I have spent hours reading forums and trying the desktop help to try to solve this. ![]() I checked MediaLink's website and they do have a Linux driver but after downloading it and reading the instructions it was way too technical and beyond my skills to try to install it since I am new to Linux. The adapter is the MediaLink Wireless-N USB Adapter(Model # MWN-USB150N). I checked in Terminal and my system does list the adapter but there is no GUI for it.I have tried checking the additional drivers but it does not list my usb adapter but drivers for my Nvidia Geforce 640 graphics card. The issue I am having is that my internet connection keeps dropping and then 5 seconds later, it reconnects and only stays connected for 10 to 15 seconds, before dropping again. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on a dual boot using Gnome Classic interface and using a wireless usb adapter. So was having the JLINK for my video/audio, so for now it seems possible.I am currently having a weird internet connection problem. Lastly, I took my new iPhone 5 and the included "Lighting Cable" from Apple and used that in the Factory USB port, it also worked perfectly! Again, no video, but Charging, Album Art, OGM1 control of my audio, Etc.įor me having the Factory USB Port on the dash for charging my iPhone and having a clean look for friends to plug in their devices was important. It also allowed power so charging directly from the Factory USB port was active again. No video obviously, that wasn't the intent, but full audio and audio control from the OGM1.Including album art, etc. I then took a regular USB iPhone/iPod Cable and tested my iPod from the Factory USB port. I used the JLINK cable first and tested to make sure the video and audio comes over appropriately, it did! It takes a little extra "push" and seems to be a good tight fit. The other end was the Mini-USB adapter tip and I plugged that into the back of the Factory USB port that is on the dash. That cable is "retractable" so it lets you pull out enough cable to work with while still keeping it neat. Next, I took the USB Adapter Kit and plugged that USB into the USB Hub. I then plugged the USB from the JLINK into the USB Hub. Then I plugged the USB 4-Port Hub into the MediaLink USB receptacle. I pulled off the front of the dash and disconnected only the USB section of the JLINK from the MediaLink, leaving the video jack plugged in. Targus 4-Port HUB, USB-Powered - $14.99 Wal-Mart (. Here is what I did and I included a few snapshots too.ĬyberPower USB Adapter Kit - $2.00 (possible a clearance price?) Wal-Mart (. I am now able to have both my Charging & Full Audio control back from the Factory USB Port on the dash AND my JLINK-USB for Audio/Video through my MediaLink. Finally, I came across the right combination! After some scratching my head and thinking there MUST be a way somehow to retain the Factory USB on the Dash AND utilize the JLINK-USB through the MediaLink, I got to work trying out different configurations of adapters and cables. What a great guy! He has been a huge help for much of the process and I'd totally recommend him to everyone! Right off the bat I want to say that I purchased from Walt ADC Mobile. ![]()
